During this year-end season of thanksgiving and reflection, 15 Beautreillis has invited emerging artist Yizhi WAN to present a set of his installation, video and performance works in 願你捱到新天地 / May you endure a new world. Here, the artist works with food – biscuits, bread, tofu – to reconstruct quasi-edible versions of daily life, from identity cards to a living space. Through this material transformation, Yizhi WAN asks: how much of ourselves is presented in documents, and how much do we give away through them? How does where we come from constitute us, and how do we communicate despite the seeming impossibility of the task? In these works, the Yizhi WAN urges us to reconsider what sustains us and what we dismiss as detritus in an age of abundance and rapid/rabid consumption.

Yizhi WAN : 願你捱到新天地 is part of the Encounters series at 15 Beautreillis, where artists and curators are invited to exhibit and workshop a part of their practice still under development with a wider audience, activating the gallery as a space for experimentation and a place to gather together.
