Antinea Jimena: { · } Papeles · Sonidos
If we listen to paper, what truths would it tell us?
In this solo exhibition and performance cycle, the artist Antinea Jimena turns our attention to paper as material, as experience, and as culture.
From the very beginning, paper has been a revolutionary cultural product originating from the natural plant world. Inextricable from language, paper can be blank but is never empty of meaning. Becoming synonymous with bureaucracy in modernity, paper is everywhere and so, unnoticed and overlooked. Through works with and on paper – paper-making, painting, drawing, writing, and performance – Antinea Jimena compels us to go beyond looking at paper to explore its sensorial and spiritual aspects.
