Andrea Nones Kobiakov
Andrea Nones Kobiakov currently lives and works between Mexico City and Miami. Her installation and sculptural works touch upon themes of placement within the home, migrations, and affections or adaptations of our surroundings. She applies the evocative nature of textures and smells using food and ingredients as part of her materials to speak of loss and remembrance.
Nones Kobiakov was part of the SOMA education program in Mexico City, graduated with a BFA from Florida International University focusing on photography and installation and is continuously studying culinary and agricultural techniques.
Andrea formed part of the fifth edition of the Forecast program in Berlin, received an Ellie from Oolite Arts, Miami FL, and has been part of SOMA Summer residencies in 2018 and 2019. Her work has also been shown as part of the Arab film series from the Arab American National Museum amongst others.
Nones Kobiakov has been shown in solo and group shows in Venezuela, Mexico, US, Egypt, Germany, and Brazil and forms part of the collection at Museum of Contemporary Art of Zulia [MACZUL] (Venezuela), Alma Colectiva (Mexico), as well as other private collections in Mexico, Venezuela, US, Canada, and Spain.
