Urmeer

Practice

Urmeer has developed a multidisciplinary practice that incorporates drawing, animation, and sculpture into colorful works with a cute and sinister aesthetic. His recent work explores geo-trauma crossed by the omnipresent influence of mass culture, which shapes our way of understanding the world, the environment, and everyday experience.

His work has been shown at major institutions such as: Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo, XX Rufino Tamayo Biennial, Museo de Arte Moderno, XIV Mercosul Biennial, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Palais de Tokyo, Kurimanzutto CDMX, SAPS, CAPC Bordeaux, among others.

He earned a BA in Visual Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Design, UNAM (2012–2016), later attended the SOMA Educational Program (2018–2020), and finally Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture (2022). He was a member of the artistic collective Biquini Wax EPS (2012–2025) and has collaborated with other artists including Ileana Moreno and Vanebon.
